Cool Season Color

Cool Color for Shade

We have many great options for shade in the cooler months. For shrubs, Camellia sasanqua speciessuch as ‘Mine No Yuki’ are the first to bloom.
Perennial Coral Bells (Heuchera) sport intense colors and tiny blooms. Left: ‘Crisp Peach’; right ‘Little Cutie Blondie’
Hellebores (Lenten Roses) offer long-lasting blooms on evergreen foliage. Above: Helleborus x ballardiae ‘Pink Frost’
The smaller annual Violas (Johnny Jump-Ups) like ‘Penny Orange’ are ideal for areas with part sun, and can bring a wide variety of colors to beds and containers.
Our Tulips Have Arrived! We’ve picked the 12 most popular varieties and had them pre-chilled for you. Note that we are unable to store them this year, so just keep them in your refrigerator away from any fruit or vegetables, and plant when the soil temperature reaches about 55 degrees, usually in late December.
