to make a great impression on customers and make sure they feel welcomed and
taken care of. You have superb manners both on the phone and face-to-face.
You’re never too busy to get a customer what they need. You’re comfortable on
the computer, have register experience and know how to handle cash and count
back change. You like keeping things
tidy and will make sure that between customers you keep the shelves stocked and
clean. You might have some gardening experience…but if you don’t then you at
least have an interest in learning. You’re not afraid to be honest when you
don’t know the answer and have no problem finding someone who does. You like to
smile. You’re looking for a part time or full time job and are available to

SUPPORT STAFF/CARRY OUT You love working outside and like to keep moving. You’re not
afraid of getting your hands dirty or moving and stocking heavy items. You
enjoy working on a team and enjoy greeting customers. A customer needs mulch loaded in their car
for them? No problem, you’re on it. Other support staff needs an assist on
moving a heavy fountain out onto the sales floor? You’re there to help. New plants need to be installed in the front
display beds? You’ll get it done quickly. A big plant order has just arrived?
You’ll help get it unloaded promptly so you can get back to customer needs. If
you see the trash needs to be taken out or plants that need watering, you’d
rather take care of it on your own before someone has to ask you to do it.
You’re proud of the work you do and you do it with a smile. You’re looking for

GARDEN ADVISOR (NURSERY SALES)
When it comes to horticulture, you know your stuff. You have
at least five years of experience working in the gardening industry; better yet
you have retail garden center experience. You’re people focused and you know
the importance of teaching customers how to be successful with their project
the first time around. If they’re not,
then you’ll be there to get them back on track the next time with a positive
outlook. You have a good handle on what
does and does not work in the garden in our N. Texas climate. You have
experience using organic methods and are comfortable teaching customers how to
use them. You’re not afraid of hot
weather and you don’t melt when it rains. You know that your first priority is
customer service so when you see a customer, you make a bee-line for them.
Between customers, however, you know the importance of getting plants watered
and racks unloaded so you have quality product to sell when you need it. You’re
not afraid to communicate with support staff to help get those tasks completed.
You take pride in your work and you love what you do. You might even have your
TCNP/TCLP certification, and if so that’s a plus. If not, then it’s on your
list to complete in the next year or so. You’re looking for full time or part
