This is a Native American incense herb. The stems and foliage are used to make smudge sticks which are burned in purification ceremonies. It has fuzzy dusty grey ornamental foliage. The roots were used for afterbirth to heal and clean the womb. Also the leaves were smoked, taken as a tea, or used in sweatlodges to cure colds. The flowers are good for honey, and wildlife forage.
