Winter
months bring many new visitors to our
North Texas backyards. In addition to the usual resident birds ( chickadees,
titmice, house finches, red bellied and downy woodpeckers, house sparrows,
cardinals and bluejays ), you can also expect to see American Goldfinch,
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Brown Thrasher, Cedar Waxwing, Yellow-rumped Warbler,
White-throated Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, American Robin, Northern Flicker,
and Sharp-shined Hawk.
North Haven has everything you need to attract
and feed your winter guests:
-
Thistle Socks and Feeders -especially for Goldfinches which
arrive around Thanksgiving. Tie a yellow ribbon on it.
-
Suet Feeders -fill with suet cakes (Peanut, Berry, Almond)
to provide fat to keep birds warm.
-
Peanuts offered in a Platform Feeder
-
Droll Yankee Tube Feeders with Seed Trays filled with Sunflower
or Saff1ower.
-
Woodlink Hopper Feeders for the rustic look.
-
T.M. Huff Copper Tube Feeders for an elegant look.
-
Tom Torren contemporary bird feeders in blue-green copper
on rusted iron bases.
The best way to attract the
largest variety of birds is to offer different foods in different types
of feeders. A consistently fresh supply of water is also critical to a
bird's survival. North Haven has all your bird feeding supplies.
