WOW
!!! Hot Summer temperatures and hot gift ideas are ready for your choosing.
Bright color is the look for the patio and garden this year. Colored glass
accessories are found everywhere, beginning with beautiful glass containers
for plants and cut flowers. In the garden, a brilliant humming bird feeder
will not only be pleasing to the eye but the “hummers” will enjoy the
sweet nectar. We have the most beautiful gazing balls in a Venetian style
glass. Any of these would be spectacular in the garden along with some
beautiful tropical plants.
Just in time for summer gifts, a new collection
of cement garden statuary has arrived with garden angels, charming musical
frogs, a warren of bunnies, and many other garden favorites. Add a “friendly
alligator” to your ground cover area and your garden will take on that
tropical look.
New expandable twig tee-pee trellises and
an expanding twig fence are great for your vegetable garden or other summer
vines to grow on. These were so popular last year, we included them again
in our summer collection of accessories. In addition, a large variety
of metal trellises and wooden trellises are ready for you to add to the
garden.
Visit the retail store and browse the many
ceramic containers and beautiful flower plaques featuring Passion Flower,
Honeysuckle, Sweet Pea, Mandevilla, and Peony. Be sure and look up on
the wall (by the automatic doors) and see the whimsical collection of
tile plaques featuring butterflies, dragonflies, shapes of Texas, lizards,
cactus, and many more. They make delightful garden wall accents and summer
gifts.

Wondering
what to plant in your garden now that you’ve attended some of the Metroplex

your selections. Best of Texas Landscape Guide (Texas Nursery & Landscapers
Association) has great pictures to help you identify what you like, Plants
of the Metroplex (Howard Garrett), and Dale Groom’s Texas Gardening Guide
will help you with information to make successful selections that will thrive
with proper placement. Perennial Gardens for Texas (Julie Ryan) provides
excellent data and pictures. For those interested in creating drought tolerant
gardens, consider books such as Water-Wise Gardening, Xeriscape Color Guide,
Xeriscape Handbook, and Dry-Land Gardening to enhance your knowledge.
Thinking about adding a pond? Helen Nash’s
books are informative and practical — The Pond Doctor, Plants for Water
Gardens, and Low Maintenance Water Gardens. Perhaps you want to attract
birds or butterflies? How to Grow Your Own Butterflies and Hummingbird Gardens
