Easy 1, 2, 3... Grow Your Own Bulbs! Add color through the seasons with tulips, daffodils, muscari & more!
|
- Pick your Location & Container.
First, decide where your container garden will be placed. Sun or shade? Select glazed or terra cotta containers that will coordinate with your home or landscape. Make sure to select containers that will be large enough to hold your desired plant material. Drainage is key to successful container gardens. Always plant into containers with a drainage hole.
- Choose Potting Soil.
Fertile, well drained soil is necessary for successful container gardens. Schultz Moisture Plus Potting Soil will help maintain healthy plants through the summer. For an organic option, use Vital Earth Potting Soil. Enrich your potting soil with Earthworm Castings. To help maintain adequate moisture all season-long, add Soil Moist Crystals to your potting mix.
- Select Varieties, Plant & Feed.
Select a mixture of plants, for either sunny or shady conditions, that will offer color, contrast and texture. Mix interesting foliage with colorful blooming plants. Choose tall and low growing plants for variation. Top-dress your container with 1” of Mulch. At planting, make sure to fertilize, and continue to feed regularly with products like Liquid Seaweed or Miracle Gro Plant Food. For a long-lasting slow release fertilizer, use Osmocote.
ENJOY!
