January in the Garden

• Start seeds of tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, and more indoors mid- month, with our Jump Start lighting system.
• Plant Fruit Trees now! Also plant shrubs, shade trees, perennials, cold hardy veggies and color.
• Amend existing beds with organic compost and expanded shale.
• Install new raised beds for vegetables (garden table, bed kits). Fill with our custom soil mix.
• Plant remaining pre-chilled tulips now, daffodils and perennials bulbs through March.
• Attend our free gardening educational programs!
• Plant Onions through January. Sets and slips arrive this week!
• Force Paperwhites indoors.
• Transplant existing trees and shrubs while their root systems are dormant.
• Add mid-winter color with pansies, viola and cyclamen.
• Begin to prepare vegetable gardens with organic matter.
